Our approach Orthopaedic Surgery Specialist
We are trained in specific areas of orthopaedic surgery, with a focus on sub-specialities such as shoulder, elbow, upper limb conditions and sports injuries. Dr. Priyadarshi Amit’s training includes fellowships in arthroscopy (Birmingham) and upper limb surgery (Barts Bone and Joint, London).
We have years of experience in treating patients in India and abroad, which allows us to apply techniques and practices used in different healthcare settings to the care of our patients.
Where required, patients are assessed with input from other specialists such as rheumatologists, radiologists and physiotherapists. A management plan for the orthopaedic condition is explained to the patient, and treatment is started as early as is clinically appropriate.
Our aim is to reduce the number of visits a patient needs to make. Where clinically suitable, the consultant will discuss a management plan and, if appropriate, minimally invasive procedures to improve symptoms at the first visit.
Day-case surgery is offered for [list procedures, e.g. shoulder arthroscopy, WALANT hand surgery], where the patient can return home the same day after surgery. This can mean less disruption to daily routine and a shorter hospital stay.
Our approach to care places the patient at the centre of decision-making. Patients are encouraged to take part in planning a management plan suited to their needs, with the aim of restoring function. Most patients are first advised non-operative measures. Surgery is advised only where it is considered to be in the patient’s best interest.
Where appropriate, we use a minimally invasive approach to preserve the joint and delay the need for joint replacement surgery, which is considered when other treatment options are no longer suitable.
We use established and current techniques in our treatments, chosen according to each patient's condition and clinical need.
We base our practice on the clinical evidence available from published research, so that treatment decisions follow accepted standards of care.
